NUCLEAR ASSAULT - Third World Genocide @VBR

Nuclear Assault were among thrash metal's most socially aware groups, making room for serious subject matter (and occasional goofs) in their careening speed metal riffing. They also remained closer to the world of hardcore than most of their peers, and at their late-'80s peak released some of the most uncompromising thrash metal offerings of the time. After performing on Anthrax' 1984 debut Fistful of Metal, bass player Danny Lilker decided to jump ship and search for a more aggressive outlet for his music. Lilker formed Nuclear Assault with vocalist and guitarist John Connelly (also briefly a member of Anthrax in its formative years) in 1985. Guitarist Mike Bogush and drummer Scott Duboys only lasted a few months before being replaced by guitarist Anthony Bramante and ex-T.T. Quick powerhouse drummer Glenn Evans. One of the Big Apple's few challengers (along with Anthrax and Overkill) to the Bay Area dominance of all things thrash metal, Nuclear Assault became immediate contenders due to the cumulative sum of its parts — not to mention, their extreme nature and their ability to back it up with solid musicianship. Produced by metal stalwart Alex Perialas, their first album, 1986's Game Over, was regarded as a breath of fresh air with its potent speed metal tinged with hardcore overtones. In the process, fans and critics alike instantly accepted it and the band was quickly off to the races. More>>>

RAGE - Trapped! @VBR

Rage formed in 1984 under the name, Avenger. After releasing their debut album Prayers of Steel and their Depraved to Black EP in 1985, the band changed their name to Rage because there was another band in England that also carried the moniker. Originally the new name was to be Furious Rage but it was eventually shortened to Rage. The first album released under the new name was Reign of Fear in 1986.
Rage's albums came out in regular, continuous intervals, and the band began touring with the likes of Running Wild, U.D.O., Motörhead and Saxon in the early 1990s. Their 1992 album Trapped marked their international breakthrough, a short highlight being Rage's tour in Japan. Their success was repeated again in 1993 with the release of The Missing Link. After change in their lineup, Rage went on to record Lingua Mortis, the first classical album by a German metal act, in 1996. Their material was performed live for the first time in late summer 1996 in Kufstein, Austria. Subsequently, Rage, and the orchestra used, embarked on a celebrated Christmas tour and played several European festivals.
Their thirteenth album XIII saw the light of day in March 1998. The next album Ghosts was followed by a major line-up change, featuring Peavy Wagner, Victor Smolski and Mike Terrana. The trio performed at Wacken Open Air in August 1999, revealing their newest album Welcome to the Other Side. The following releases Unity and Soundchaser were met with enthusiastic response from critics and fans alike. Rage toured with Primal Fear in 2002 and Helloween in 2003 and proved to be successful outings. Rage recently celebrated their 20th anniversary with both a live CD and DVD entitled From the Cradle to the Stage, documenting new and old material and showing their strongest material.
On December 6, 2006 the split with drummer Mike Terrana was officially announced, due to personal and musical differences. On January 1, 2007 it was announced that their new drummer would be André Hilgers. In 2007 the band toured in Europe with a show featuring one symphonic orchestra from Minsk, Belarus under the name "Lingua Mortis Orchestra", and the concert in that August at Wacken Open Air at 100,000 fans was recorded for a DVD to be included as bonus to their New Album called Carved in Stone and released on February 22, 2008.
The band will play at Bundesvision Song Contest 2009 (BUVISOCO) on 13 February 2009, the Festival is hosted by Stefan Raab (TV Total).

Adult Baby Jesus

Laura sent me this ridiculous and awesome Jesus tattoo. As you guys might know, I am kind of obsessed with Zombie Jesus tattoos. This one isn't Zombie Jesus, it's Adult Baby Jesus. I looked around for similar tattoos and could find NOTHING. This tattoo is in a category of it's own!

your early morning crap: presidental tattoo

It's a little late to be early morning crap, but I wanted to stick with a theme. Here's a tattoo to commemorate this historic date. A god awful tattoo of our 40th president, Ronald Reagan.

your early morning crap: frat dolphin

This dolphin is member of a fraternity and obviously is into some major kush here. Wicked tribal, brah. He spends his day in his shitty recliner likely watching Old School with his other dolphin brahs. They all have tribal tattoos and love beer bongs.

This falls under the "it's so ridiculous it's awesome" category. Let's just call the AKH part awful, but the dolphin kinda awesome. I give you, your early morning crap...

Bad straightedge tattoos volume one: text

I have a confession to make. I secretly love bad straightedge tattoos (maybe because I am straightedge? probably because they are just goofy). I actually secretly love all bad tattoos, that's why I do this blog. But I have a special soft spot in my heart for three x's that are stick-and-poked into someone's ankle. Many people get them, many people regret them later, but they are still awesome. These abominations, however, are not so awesome. Behold: the bad straightedge tattoos, volume one.

Bad font, bad linework, bad coloring, bad placement, just a generally bad idea.

Ditto! Only worse.

Why did he decide to put the text in a pool of water? I don't understand!

And finally- starship troopers straight edge dude. I have to admit this is actually pretty awesome, because I too love science fiction and not drinking. I hope this guy had a sense of humor about what he was doing, because that instantly turns this questionable tattoo into a hilarious and rad one.

If you have any regrettable edge tattoos (or any other kind of regrettable tattoo, for that matter) feel free to email me: alice@vivalavinyl.org.

your early morning crap: wizard!

I know how much Alice just loves wizard tattoos. Here's one to get your day going.

OZ - Heavy Metal Heroes @256kbps

Formed in the town of Nakkila, Finland in the late 70's. Their debut album was released on a Swedish record label - Tyfon Grammofon in 1982. By then the line-up consisted of Ape De Martini (vocals), Kari Elo (Guitar), Tauno Vajavaara (Bass guitar) & Mark Ruffneck (Drums). The Second-hand lady/Rather Knight-single was released the same year. The band gigged around Finland and even appeared on Finnish TV playing Hey You and Second-hand lady backed up with pyrotechnics and all.
Soon afterwards Jay C Blade was asked to join the band as a bass guitarist. Jay C. Blade had been kicked out of Sarcofagus in which he had been handling the lead vocals on the Envoy of death album released in 1980, after which he had re-joined his first band Masque. Jay joined OZ, bringing with him Esa Niva from Masque. Esa Niva got out of the band pretty quickly though, and somewhere along the way Spooky Wolff (ex Noitawaimo) and Speedy Foxx were recruited, both on guitars. The classic lineup was now complete. They played their debut gig at the Göta Lejon theatre in Stockholm. Jay C Blade became the main contributor of songs and soon the band recorded their next album.

OZ - Turn the Cross Upside Down @256kbps (EP)

Their next release was the Turn the cross upside down-single in 1984. The title track smelled of black metal and is still one their best remembered songs. The first royalty payment Jay received for the single was of the sum of 666 SEK (Swedish kronor). Jay took that as a sign of some sort and decided to cut down on the "satanic" stuff.

It is never good... the "taz tattoo"

If there is ever a terrible god damn tattoo that people get, it's that piece of garbage "Taz" tattoo. For some reason or another the Warner Bros. Tasmanian devil has become one of the more well known shitstorms of ink pounded into the skin of the willing. I am unsure if it's some need to feel as if the person getting the tattoo is "wild and crazy" or some true love for the actual character. Nonetheless it is almost always an awful tattoo and unfortunately tends to be a "first" choice for a lot of people. All my searching on the internet found so many people saying that their Taz tattoo was their first and how much they loved it. I think it falls under the cheap flash art that on a dare someone finally gets to impress others. Now we look further into the lexicon of tattoo art and discover together this craptastic series of tattoos.

I love how Taz takes on so many different roles and attitudes in these pictures. He is wild, crazy but hard working. Either way, they are all just awful.

OZ - III Warning @256kbps

Though the next album still contained a bit of that dark religious stuff in the shape of the song Crucified. Their third full length album III Warning was also released in 1984. Solely written by Jay C. Blade, it included such goodies as Crucified and the title track itself. The band were supposed to go on tour as a support act for Venom on their USA and Canada dates, but their American manager somehow fucked it all up. They still played a few gigs around Sweden, though. Their stage act included the vocalist cutting guitars to pieces with the large knife which can be seen in the hands of the vocalist on the front cover of the III Warning album.

OZ - Decibel Storm @256kbps

Their fourth album Decibel storm was released in 1986. This time the other band members apart from Jay C Blade had contributed more to the songwriting than on the previous album and the results were great. This was the first OZ album to have a little bit of keyboards on it, nothing too cheesy though. The songs Firestarter and Disaster Dreamer are classics. The band had planned to do a video for one of the songs on the album, but whether those plans came to realization or not is unknown.
Some while after the release of the album Jay C Blade was asked to fill in on guitar for New York-based Princess Pang on a 4 gig tour. Jay accepted the offer and headed to New York. The gigs went well and when he returned to Sweden it had already been decided that he was to join Princess Pang as a full-time member of the band. At the time, OZ had lost both their guitarists Spooky Wolff and Speedy Foxx, so Jay was the third man to leave the band in a short period of time.
4 years went by before OZ would find themselves back in the business of recording again. New bandmembers had been recruited; Michael Lundholm as sole guitarist and Tobbe Moen on bass guitar, as well as a keyboard player by the name of Jörgen Schelander. Tobbe Moen was later replaced by Fredrik Thörnblom on bass guitar after the recording sessions at the Sky Trak Studio in Berlin.

OZ - Roll the Dice @256kbps

The album Roll the dice was released in 1991. The songs on the album were mainly written by Ape De Martini and the new guitar player, resulting in a bit different style and sound than the earlier OZ albums. The title track stands out as the best offering on the album.
The band again played a few gigs, but the music scene had changed and the Swedish death metal boom was in full action, resulting in loss of interest and gig-offers for more classic kinds of metal in the underground scene of Stockholm. So, the band slowly faded away from then and there.

LILLIAN AXE - Fields of Yesterday @256kbps

Commercially marginal, but musically competent, Lillian Axe deserves a little credit for almost transcending their original '80s hair metal also-ran status and issuing discs through the '90s. The group had a couple of major-label releases and flashy videos that commanded little if any attention in the days of Warrant and Poison. Coming up as they had in the Southern and Midwestern bar circuit, the group was a pretty formidable live unit, but they never defined themselves enough to separate from the pack of hair farming, guitar spinning, leather pants wearing pack. Fields of Yesterday, although released in 1999, is really a collection of unreleased tracks recording during sessions for Lillian Axe's Love and War and Poetic Justice sessions between 1989 and 1992. There isn't a pronounced drop in quality between these cuts and those that made it on record originally, and songs like "The Last Time" and "Pulling the Rats Out" are as good as any the band recorded during this period. Guitarist Stevie Blaze is in fine form as his riffing and solo moments on tracks like "Deep Freeze" command attention with their sizzle and precision. While by no means groundbreaking, Fields of Yesterday is a solid release of rarities from a decent and slightly under-appreciated hard rock outfit.

LILLIAN AXE - Waters Rising @256kbps

After several years, since 1999's "Fields of Yesterday", founding guitarist Steve Blaze returns with a new lineup for Lillian Axe. It must be so hard for these “Hair bands” (the term means nothing to me the music does the talking) to make new music because the stigma just follows the genre forever especially in the eyes of ignorant critics, well some. On "Waters Rising" Lillian Axe’s sound has really lost the big guitars of the 80's (their self titled debut released in 88', "Love &War" in 89' and "Poetic Justice" in 92') and replaced them with a dirtier guitar sound and more varied arrangements.
Opening rocker “Water’s Rising”, ‘Become a Monster” with more rhythmic grinding guitar riffing and “Antarctica” shows the band still rocks. Its a little different sounding band now, a little more today, and the music is not your predictable big guitar riff - verse - chorus - verse - chorus- guitar solo. Now a little more dynamic than before trying different ideas working outside of the box, example “The 2nd of May” or “Deep in the Black” which has a Pink Floydish mood (what sounds like an organ helps) in Derrick LeFevre’s vocals. “Until the End of the World” is more classic sounding with acoustic guitars and a catchy chorus as with “Have to Die, Goodbye”. I really like these two, very good harmonies.
If you are familiar with “Fields of Yesterday” then this will be of no surprise. “Waters Rising” is a disc of well written songs that does not try to live on its past. Lillian Axe are taking chances without losing who they are in the process. Recommended.

who ya gonna call?

Man oh man... I loved the movie too, but why?

sports and tattoos, a terrible mix...

Now I am a die hard Yankees fan and will never deny my devotion to the team. I however have always had an apprehension to getting a team related tattoo not because I dislike the team in some way, but mostly because sports related tattoos are normally god awful. They are almost always poorly executed and have stupid subject matter if it's not a specific logo. Here are some real stinkers I've found on my search around our faithful internet.

Since I mentioned I am a Yankees fan, it's only fair to start with them. I've been to enough games in my day to see some really terrible Yankees related tattoos. This one is just bad all around. Terrible idea, terrible execution and just poorly done. I would hide this from my friends and neighbors who might be fans themselves. I would be ashamed that I disparaged something I liked so much with absolute shit results.

Now it wouldn't be fair to all those Yankees fans like myself to allow our beloved pinstripers to be defaced in such poor ink fashion. So it's time to retaliate against the Boston Red Sox by exposing what is just utter crap. They took the team logo, which is fine, but the, added matching sweet, sweet tribal. Tribal that is color matched to the logo, absolutely brilliant. What is the point of the tribal? To show how you can make something that much more awesome by putting lines around it? I will never understand the obsession with tribal.

Holy Christ, quite possibly the worst logo reproduction I have ever seen. What this person must have done was found the best blind tattoo artist in the New England region of the United States and just described what this logo looked like. Imagine being proud of this enough to take a photo of it to show to people on the internet.

Ok so another combo of total stupid. Let's take a dragon (a wonderful tattoo cliche) and give him a soccer ball. What the hell, who gives a shit what nonsense you put on your skin. The dragon itself is barely recognizable. I mean is the soccer ball in the dragon's mouth?

Tough guy here thought he would show that playing hockey on broken, melted ice was a way to express his devotion to the game. Is the the hockey man wearing a gas mask? I don't blame him, this friggin thing stinks.

You save the best for last. This is the best. A pink bunny playing basketball. See ya next time...

hi, i am jay and i have a terrible tattoo.

Hi guys, I am Jay and I love terrible tattoos. Alice has me along for the ride to discuss the absolute awesomeness of total crap zapped into people's skin.

I have a really bad tattoo, it's of a "rune" on my leg. At the time I listened to a lot of black metal and swore I was going get a whole bunch of runes. One day an ex girlfriend of mine wanted to get her belly button pierced. While at the shop I wanted to get a cheap tattoo to show off how cool I was. Well I made the worst possible choice and I just have this dumb arrow on my leg that means "warrior" in rune speak. Anyway, one day I will cover it up with something less retarded.

I will do my best to find the worst possible tattoos to contribute to this very important blogging experiment.

When bad tattoos come full circle and become awesome

I bring you the most amazing collection of terrible tattoos that you could ever imagine. This fine young gentleman has agreed to let me post his awful tattoos and stories for your reading pleasure. Behold, the best bad tattoos in the world. They are so bad they are now officially AWESOME. I will let him explain in his own words:

My friend came down from Toronto to visit for a week or two. My roommate Tyson came home one night with about 3 friends, 2 cases of beer, a bottle of whiskey, a bottle of vodka, a tattoo machine, needles and ink. We all start drinking and hanging out and having a really good time, then one of his friends suggests we get the gun out and start setting it up.

Not a single person before this had ever held a tattoo gun.

We get the thing running, set the needles in place, put on gloves etc etc and begin to tattoo each other. (different needles, gloves, etc for each person, not totally sanitary but not extremely dirty) after about hour 3 of tattooing the absolute most ridiculous shit on each other we end up falling asleep. Wake up the next morning and most people had no recollection of what had happened and will forever be reminded about the night they forgot they got tattooed.

Here are mine:

I think in the corner there we have a straightedge pyramid with an eye, like on the dollar bill?

The guy with the muscle arms at the top was supposed to be a CUPCAKE, by the way. There is also a cat with butterfly eyes and a mustache dreaming of... something?

But wait... there's more!!!

I had just gotten to a friends house kind of late at night, she was watching an episode of that Housewives of Orange County and i walked in on the part of the show where one of their daughters had told the parents she had gotten a tattoo. They started flipping out wanting to know WHAT and WHERE it was. She finally shows them this butterfly about the size of a dime on her foot.

So... i asked "i wonder how pissed they would've been if she wouldve came home with a bunch of random bugs all over her feet?".

Getting tattoos based on an awful reality tv show is possibly the worst idea in the world, especially if they are weird stickerbook bugs on your FEET, but this is just so funny and bad that I think it's pure genius.

This guy is my new hero.

AXENSTAR - Far From Heaven

Axenstar (formerly called Powerage) is a power metal band from Västerås, Sweden, founded in 1998 by Peter Johansson and Magnus Ek. Their fourth and latest studio album, The Final Requiem, was released on August 28, 2006. Either demo album is unobtainable through torrents or other music software downloadings.AXENSTAR was formed by Peter Johansson (guitar) and Magnus Ek (bass) as a Metal-cover band 1998 under the name Powerage, after several member changes the line up that took the name Axenstar in 2001 was Magnus Eriksson (Vocals & Keyboards), Thomas Eriksson (Lead & Rhythm Guitar), Peter Johansson (Rhythm & Lead Guitar), Magnus Ek (Bass) and Pontus Jansson (Drums).
In October 2002 Axenstar released their debut album Perpetual Twilight on the Spanish label Arise Records. The album got really good reviews all over the world and Axenstar got the chance to play at Motala Metal Festival, the biggest gig so far in their career.
The second album Far From Heaven was recorded during May of 2003 and just about a week after the recordings were done Axenstar played at the mighty Sweden Rock Festival, which was a great experience for the band. In January 2004 the opportunity was given to go ahead on their first European Tour as the opening act to Falconer, unfortunately Magnus Ek was unable to go on the tour and Joakim Jonsson (Skyfire, The mist of avalon)was found to be the stand-in bassplayer on the tour, which turned out great.

LEGION OF THE DAMNED - Cult of the Dead (Deluxe Edition)

Legion of the damned unleashed their first thrashing metal storm on the 6th of January 2006. "Malevolent rapture" was an uncompromising slab of killer death/thrash reminiscent of the masters of the eighties packed in a modern killer sound by Andy Classen and received many killer reviews in the press. The band showed to be able to combine furious thrash mayhem with midpaced neckbreaking rhythms, translocating the realm of the eighties into the new millenium.Since "Malevolent rapture" the band has been destroying the stage on the No Mercy Festivals together with Cannibal Corpse and Kataklysm, and playing festivals such as Rockhard Festival, Summerbreeze, Up from the ground and Wacken open air, as well as a minitour in September 2006 with veterans Destruction in the Netherlands. During the No Mercy Festivals Harold Gielen joined the band on bass, increasing the ferocious power of this well-oiled warmachine on stage. Between the gigs the band was busy writing new songs for the next album.

HOLY MOSES - Agony Of Death

Holy Moses is a German thrash metal band. They are well noted for being fronted by Sabina Classen (it is rare for a woman to be a singer in thrash metal) and for being one of the very first German thrash metal bands. As far as Sabina Classen is concerned, the title of the current Holy Moses album (their twelfth offering to date) says it all: Agony Of Death, the medical term for the death struggle and common denominator of the recording’s lyrics. “Amazingly, our band has been around for more than twenty years, which means that Holy Moses have been doomed for over two decades, but we’ve persevered,” the vocalist proudly points out, adding: “Life is a fight against death from the first moment. Some people are subjected to violence and abuse even in their childhood and experience this fight from an early age, while for others it may start later, but is no less dramatic.” These considerations are reflected in the lyrics on Agony Of Death. Be it in terms of ambivalent suicidal reflections (‘World In Darkness’), disturbances of memory and blackouts (‘The Cave’), or amnesia (‘Dissociative Disorder’) – it would hardly be possible to deal with this subject matter more intensely and professionally.

PUNY HUMAN - Revenge is Easy

Three years can seem like an eternity when you’re in a band. Especially when those three years are spent in limbo. Plagued by all the suburban tedium that causes most bands to call it a day (marriage, baby making, career pursuits, and endless schedule conflicts), there were times when it looked like Puny Human might do just that. Leave the world with two immaculate albums of hard driving Stoner-Metal and a good looking corpse.
Luckily for us Puny Human chose a different path. Re-inventing themselves the new Puny Human has returned a more focused and high octane band than before. Raging full on with a whole new batch of tunes entitled "Universal Freak Out".
Named from one of their favorite phrase’s in the comic book "The Hulk", Puny Human released their debut cd "Revenge is Easy" back in 2000. The album received high praise from the ever fickle rock critics, and the band spent the following three years alternating between the road and working on new material which would eventually become their sophomore release, "It’s Not the Heat it’s the Humanity."
The summer of 2004 found the drummers seat vacant and the remaining members of Puny Human not quite sure what they were going to do. Luckily for them, longtime Puny Human admirer John Bongiorno was in almost the exact same situation. Needless to say, neither side was looking forward to the agonizing task of finding new people to play with. However, after comparing notes over a six pack (or four) the 2 parties decided to get together and make some noise.

LANFEAR - The Art Effect

The German Power Metallers LANFEAR from the suburbs of Heilbronn have been founded in the end of 1993, that time with a clearly more progressive direction. The band released their debut album "Towers" (1996) in self-production and it was re-released in 1997 by Uhrwerk Records under the title "Towers Of February". The second album "Zero Poems", which had a more progressive direction, was recorded with producer Andy Horn and released in 1999.
Their third album "The Art Effect" is one of that records, I would describe as being perfect. Nearly everything works well, super vocals, great songs, over the top production. Okay, one can discuss about the cover - but it's truly outstanding! After the two self financed records "Towers" and "Zero Poems", Massacre Records signed LANFEAR. If I had a label for my own, I wouldn't hesitate to sign these guys - but in a commercial point of view, these guys won't never be megasellers. But their Power Metal, which is inspired by some US bands, should appeal lots of people because stylistical similar bands like BRAINSTORM sell much records, too.
Anyway, LANFEAR offer one hit after another, with high pitched vocals, polyphonic choruses and much power in their rhythm section. Wether speed crushers like the great "Traces Of Infinity" or "Stigmatized", slightly progressive breakers like the divine "The Artefact" (what a chorus) or "Deeper", everywhere you put the laser, there rules always top stuff. A big compliment goes to singer Tobias Althammer, apart from Andy B. Franck, he has not to be afraid of any other competition in Germany.
But all the good critics don't serve any purpose when their sales are so low. I know, this album is on the market for a long time but it doesn't developed to a bestseller. All critics had been good but the Metalheads seem to have something in their ears - or no money, or no taste. Then put your money in HELLOWEEN clones or buy the new MAIDEN, METALLICA or RHAPSODY. Who cares, when the probably best German newcomer for years doesn't gain any attention... I'm pissed off...support the underground! (Online December 16, 2003)

GIRLSCHOOL - Legacy

Dunno how many like (or even know) GIRLSCHOOL; fact is this British band paved the way for all-female Hard/Heavy acts to spread their wings. 2008 marks the 30th anniversary of the London-based femmes, GIRSCHOOL sees 75% of the original lineup intact and – as far as I’m concerned – "Legacy" does not predict any sign we won’t hear again from these cats in the near future. Yes, GIRLSCHOOL is (in a way) a legend.
"Believe" – 2004 – was a nice British Heavy/Hard/Rock album, the first studio one with Jackie Chambers on board. I believe – listening to "Legacy" again and again – that the new album is even better. It’s louder, more energetic, more well-assembled, more diverse in its own limits. Apart from this – we’ll get back to the music itself later – this new CD features the kind participation of eight no-less-than respected musicians, paying their own tribute to this perilous clan.
OK, Lemmy’s appearance would be judged as nothing less than predictable, haha; the man plays bass and sings in "Don’t Talk To Me", while fellow comrade Fast Eddie Clark does the guitar solo in the rendition of "Metropolis". TWISTED SISTER’s J.J. French provides leads and licks in "Spend Spend Spend" and Eddie ojeda appears in "Don’t Mess Around", the living legend of Hard/Heavy bass Neil Murray appears in "Whole New World" and "Legend" (both alongside MOTORHEAD’s current axeman Phil Campbell) and – last but definitely not least – the sacred Iommi/Dio duo delivers the goods in thei relative version of "I Spy".
What’s special with "Legacy", now: it’s a dangerously ’fresh’ album, even if ’retro’ in (almost) its entirety. Meaning: the production unveils a band with strong knowledge if its inspiration/influence but also willing to cut its teeth in the ’now’ season. This dogma supplies the needed weapons to dress up the familiar British Metal-with-Rock-attitude-and-Punk-notion GIRLSCHOOL recipe. The voice of Kim McAuliffe is familiar, of course, but does care to make you feel comfort; she’s dangerous. The guitars are striking, both in riffs and leads, do not remember I heard such loudness in "Believe". As for the bass/drums operational status, the girls are pounding be it mid-pace rockers or just rock ’n’ Roll or the metallum of Britain.
No weak song, although some of them may leave you kinda uninterested, is present here: of special reference – of course – is the one named "I Spy". In the CD’s sequence the listener should find himself moving along to the Metal groove, while the vocals denote some vogue atmosphere in relation to the in-your-face GIRSCHOOL standards. Then, later on, the Dio/Iommi version bursts out and you can understand why this song (possibly) thrilled you the most in the first place.
OK, GIRSCHOOL’s heyday was the early 80s, with monumental albums like "Demolition" (1980) and "Hit & Run" (1981) acting like equivalent weapons to MOTORHEAD’s "Ace Of Spades" or "Iron Fist" or whatever. Still, not only the good die young, since GIRLSCHOOL seems ready for the taking in an era I don’t know how many people will take the chance to get interested in. In any way, what matters is that the quartet is ready to deliver this chance; if you care, grab it. It’s legacy, after all.

BEYOND TWILIGHT - The Devil's Hall Of Fame

"Originally released in 1992 on R.E.X. Records, this is the very first Circle of Dust album ever released... Without a doubt, Circle of Dust was the quintessential Christian industrial group. And long before Slipknot was painting by numbers, Scott Alberts (aka. Klay Scott, Celldweller, Klayton) band was busy redefining modern metal with a sound that bled sadistic instincts with the sheer terror of industrial-minded mayhem. From the radioactive burn of the opening track, "Exploration" to the turbo charged tirade of "Nothing Sacred" through the abrassive allure of "Senseless Abandon," CoD delivers a molten mass of metallic fury that leaves most contemporaries trembling in comparison!"
